Moving to Trenton

Because of its location along the Detroit River, Trenton is home to a large boating community. Trenton boasts over 2,000 acres of parks that provide amenities like boat ramps, fishing piers, and open spaces for picnics and sports.

The jewel of Trenton’s extensive park system is Elizabeth Park. Founded in 1919, Elizabeth Park is the oldest property of the Wayne County Parks System. The park covers 162 acres on the banks of the Detroit River, including 1,300 feet of riverfront that is used for fishing and leisurely walks. Elizabeth Park is a haven for active Downriver residents, hosting hiking, skating, cycling, and softball in the warmer months and ice skating and cross-country skiing in the winter.

Trenton’s Parks and Recreation Department publishes The Buzz! Magazine so you won’t miss out on any of the activities! The popularity of the parks in Trenton are an homage to this area’s love of sports. Trenton has a strong reputation for developing sports stars, particularly in hockey.

Trenton is host to several of festivals through the year along with other activities for the community. During the last weekend of June Trenton shuts down West Jefferson Avenue, for the Trenton Summer Festival.

If you are interested in boating, Trenton hosts The Roar Of The River where festival-goers gather to eat good food, watch incredible boat races, rock to live music and more during Trenton Roar on the River.

During the winter months the Cultural Center hosts the Country Christmas with displays of different Christmas Trees along with the big jolly man himself so you can get pictures with the kids.
