Christmas would not be complete for my family without a trip to Matthes Tree Farm, to hunt for and cut down, our Christmas trees. Matthes Tree Farm has been a family tradition of ours for over 30 years. Our extended family meets for breakfast (not this year) the Saturday after Thanksgiving and then we caravan out to Matthes Tree Farm in Ida, Michigan – about an hour drive from Metro Detroit.
There’s so much to do at Matthes Tree Farm and we never miss any of it…wagon rides, petting zoo and pony rides. My kids are too old for most of this now, but we stay to watch the next generation of family enjoying all of these traditions.
We didn’t gather together for Thanksgiving this year but had an unplanned, impromptu, socially distanced family gathering at Matthes Tree Farm – something we all needed!
Matthes has a Christmas Shoppe with lots of great gift items and greenery available to purchase. Also, the trip is not complete without a visit with Santa. If it isn’t already, maybe Matthes Tree Farm will become a family tradition for your family too. For us, this is a tradition that we will continue well into the future.
Call ahead if you’d like curbside service for trees, fresh wreaths and roping.
